The AIMPLAS-UPV Chair was created in 2010 with the aim of establishing a collaboration framework for the promotion and development of scientific and technological knowledge in the field of plastic materials, focused on training for students and graduates.

The creation of the AIMPLAS Chair has strengthened UPV’s collaboration with the Technology Centre, a highly relevant fact given the key role played by both entities in the Spanish and international R&D system.

The activities supported by the Chair include the delivery of training courses, participation in conferences and seminars, and the sponsorship of projects, all of which contribute to the dissemination and promotion of research in the field of plastics and composites, thereby acting as a vehicle for knowledge and technology transfer.

The development of these activities is carried out through the School of Industrial Engineering (ETSEE-UPV), in collaboration with the Institute of Materials Technology.

In 2024, in the Auditorium of the Universitat Politècnica de València in a ceremony in which the AIMPLAS- UPV Chair received the award for the Best Business Chair of the Universitat Politècnica de València in the XXIII edition of the Social Council Awards of the Universitat Politècnica de València (UPV).

The AIMPLAS-UV Chair was created with the aim of promoting training, research, development and knowledge transfer in the plastics industry, all with a special focus on sustainability and innovation and a special emphasis on promoting talent, enhancing social responsibility and raising awareness. Through this collaboration, current and future challenges in the field of sustainability and innovation of plastic materials will be comprehensively addressed. This will help integrate academic research with the needs and developments of the plastics industry.

The AIMPLAS-UV Chair is intended as a meeting and collaboration space where research and joint action will contribute to the sustainable development of the plastics industry in accordance with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG) and the 2030 Agenda.

The main activities include collaborations on elective courses, master’s degrees, doctoral scholarships and support for final degree projects, as well as sponsorship of courses, conferences and seminars in the field of plastic materials and the promotion of meetings of experts in the field.
